Licensure & Recertification Requirements for EMR, EMT, AEMT & Paramedics

Impact EMS Training offers 100% online continuing education designed to help EMS professionals meet Alabama EMT CE requirements and maintain National Registry (NREMT) certification, which is required for Alabama EMS license renewal.

In Alabama, EMS certification is regulated by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) Office of EMS. Alabama requires all EMS providers to maintain current National Registry (NREMT) certification in order to renew and maintain an active state license. Continuing education is used to maintain National Registry certification, which is required for Alabama license renewal.

Alabama EMS licenses operate on a two-year renewal cycle. Licenses expire every two years on December 31 of even-numbered years. Renewals are completed through the Alabama OEMS License Management System.

Because requirements can change, EMS professionals should always verify renewal requirements with both the National Registry (NREMT) and the Alabama Office of EMS (OEMS).
